Altneuland

At a Glance

Altneuland is an international initiative responding to the defining challenges of the 21st century: the convergence of forced migration, underdevelopment, climate stress, inequality, fragility, and social division. Grounded in Jewish ethical values, the principles of Israeli democracy, Herzlian vision, and the lessons of German–Israeli reconciliation, it proposes a new integrated approach that bridges humanitarian response and sustainable development.

Working through a systemic architecture that unites knowledge, field practice, and impact investment, Altneuland strengthens resilience and expands opportunity in both host and origin communities. Its five interdependent pillars  -  innovation, education, financing, recovery, and reconciliation  -  operate through a global network anchored by an innovation clearing house in Israel. Together, they form a practical and scalable model for transforming mobility into a catalyst for stability, dignity, and shared human flourishing.

Altneuland will cultivate a global community built on shared values and  active engagement. This network will include Jewish communities, faith-based groups, academic  institutions, cultural organizations, and civic actors committed to promoting human dignity, inclusion,  migration-sensitive development, and reconciliation.

Local hubs will function as centers for education, community mobilization, and partnership. They will  host lectures, seminars, exhibitions, and cultural events that explore issues of migration, displacement,  reconciliation, and Jewish/Herzlian ethics. They will mobilize solidarity and resources through  fundraising and volunteer engagement, providing support for IMDI scholarships, Campus initiatives,  DialogUs programs, and IIIF-backed ventures. They will identify local projects and partners that can  benefit from Altneuland’s tools and expertise, creating two-way flows of learning and collaboration.

Over time, these hubs will form a global constellation of communities and institutions that bring  Altneuland’s values and knowledge into schools, congregations, municipalities, universities, and  professional networks. Altneuland thus becomes not only an institute but a distributed global  community shaping humane responses to migration and development.

Strategic Alliances

Supportive Partners

Altneuland’s global network is its ecosystem of partnerships. Altneuland works  alongside – not instead of – existing systems, strengthening coherence and innovation through  collaboration rather than duplication.

• Government partners – national, regional, and local – will engage in designing inclusive  policies, development plans, and country compacts.

• International and regional organizations, from UN agencies to development banks and  intergovernmental bodies, will work with Altneuland on research, pilot projects, and capacity building aligned with global frameworks such as the SDGs and the Global Compact on  Migration.

• Private-sector partners and investors will contribute through ethical, impact-oriented  financing, blended finance tools, and innovation collaborations across critical sectors including  water, agriculture, renewable energy, health technologies, digital inclusion, and housing.

Employers and business associations will support workforce development and livelihood  programs for migrants and host communities.

• Civil society organizations, faith-based institutions, universities, and research centers will collaborate with Altneuland on training programs, internships, practitioner exchanges,  shared advocacy, and joint knowledge generation.

Together, the program architecture, global community, and partnership network form a cohesive  platform through which Altneuland transforms Herzlian ethics, lessons from Jewish history, and  Israeli–German cooperation into global leadership in migration, development, and reconciliation.

Topaz International Germany

Against this background, Germany is a natural first anchor country for Altneuland. It combines:

• A profound historical connection with the Jewish people and the State of Israel, grounded in  memory, responsibility, and reconciliation.

• A strong record of economic, technological, academic, and civil society cooperation with Israel.

• A central role in the European Union and international diplomacy, making it a strategic hub for  cross-border initiatives in migration, development, and reconciliation.

Altneuland’s decision to base its central hub in Germany is therefore both symbolic and practical. It  acknowledges the journey from destruction to partnership and uses that journey as a foundation for  new forms of joint responsibility in tackling today’s most urgent global challenges. From Germany,

Altneuland will develop programs, partnerships, and knowledge that reach outward – to Europe,  Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and Latin America – demonstrating how historical responsibility can be  transformed into shared leadership for a more just, resilient, and inclusive world.
